Over two intensive days, Andy Smith will strip cutting back to its core principles and rebuild your understanding from the ground up.

Trained at Vidal Sassoon and Tony & Guy, with over 25 years of global education behind him, Andy doesn’t teach you shapes to copy — he teaches you the formulas behind every shape, so you never need to copy again.

Day one is foundation. You’ll watch Andy demonstrate three precision techniques live, breaking down every decision — the why behind the weight, the balance, the intention — before stepping in to execute them yourself with his guidance right beside you.

Day One

Foundations Reimagined

Andy breaks down the principles of precision cutting — then shows you how to push past them. You’ll revisit the classic foundations (graduation, layering, one-length, combination work) through a completely modern lens, understanding why each technique works so you can adapt it freely.

Live demonstrations followed by hands-on practice on mannequins with Andy guiding you through every cut.

Day Two

Freedom & Expression

Day 2 is where precision becomes personal. You’ll work on texture, movement, and the creative decisions that give a cut its character. Andy teaches his approach to freehand work, disconnection, and the techniques he’s developed over 25 years of editorial, fashion, and commercial cutting.

By the end of the day, you’ll have a new way of seeing every head of hair that sits in your chair.

London-born and classically trained through the legendary discipline of Vidal Sassoon, alongside extensive education with TONI&GUY, Andy’s foundation is rooted in structure, technique, and uncompromising standards.
