How we got started...
Hair Mastery was born in 2020 under the name Wig Academy with a bold mission: to rise the standard of hair and wig education—and to build a platform where real artistry, generosity, and professional growth could thrive. In 2025 we have re-branded ourself to Hair Mastery to bring a holistic approach to Hair and Wig Education.
Our journey began long before the platform itself, with years of global teaching, countless masterclasses, and a shared passion for elevating the craft. Co-founder Pablo Kümin had been traveling the world since 2008, leading wig and hair education in places where structured training was rare or nonexistent. Through this, he experienced both the transformative power of great education—and the discouragement that comes from poor guidance.
By early 2020, Pablo had fully booked masterclasses lined up in Los Angeles, South Africa, Canada, and Japan. But when the pandemic hit, everything came to a halt. Instead of shifting to quick Zoom seminars or lowering the standard, he chose a different path—one rooted in quality, connection, and long-term impact. That was the moment Hair Mastery began to take shape.
Together with Co-founder Oliver Rust—an experienced visual artist and filmmaker with over 25 years in the creative industry—they began building something from the ground up. Oliver brought in his expertise in storytelling, cinematography, and high-end production to shape a platform that wasn't just educational—it was visually inspiring, emotionally engaging, and globally accessible.
Hair Mastery was never just about technique. It was about creating a legacy. A space where respected, working artists from around the world could open up their process and share what truly matters—the why behind the work. It was about lifting the veil on mastery, and making high-level education available to anyone with the drive to learn.
Too often, knowledge in the industry was guarded—kept behind closed doors or reserved for insiders. We envisioned a different future. One where creativity meets community. Where learners evolve into masters, and masters into mentors. Where those once inspired return to inspire others.

Pablo Kümin

Pablo Kuemin is an award-winning hairstylist and visionary wig artist based in Paris with over 17 years of experience across the fashion, film, and creative industries. He began his journey at the renowned Kuhn Intercoiffure in Switzerland, earning eight major awards within three years, including two titles of Swiss Hairdresser of the Year. Today, as the founder of Hair Mastery, he is redefining hair education by combining technical training with creative mindset work empowering stylists to grow, thrive, and lead in a changing industry.
Oliver Rust
Co-Founder & Visual Artist
Oliver Rust is a Swiss visual artist, filmmaker, and photographer with over 25 years of international experience capturing the human essence through images that speak without words. As co-founder of Hair Mastery, Oliver brings not only technical excellence but a cinematic, emotional approach to hair education—merging visual storytelling with soul, and helping to shape a new era of creative learning for hairstylists around the world.
